Racing team confirmed:
Haas exit fixed! Nico Hülkenberg changes F1 team
It's now official! Nico Hülkenberg will leave the Haas Formula 1 team and join Sauber in 2025 (Audi from 2026). The German's future team announced this on its social media channels on Friday.
"Hülkenberg has been added to the group chat," Sauber announced the deal. The 36-year-old will start racing for the Swiss outfit at the beginning of next season before the team is taken over by Audi in 2026.
"An important part of the transformation"
"We are delighted to welcome Nico back here in Hinwil from 2025 and to compete with him in Formula 1. With his speed, his experience and his commitment to teamwork, he will be an important part of the transformation of our team - and of Audi's F1 project," says Andreas Seidl, CEO of Sauber Motorsport AG, looking forward to the years together. "The prospect of competing for Audi is something very special. When a German manufacturer enters Formula 1 with such determination, it is a unique opportunity," says Hülkenberg, who is also looking forward to the mission.
Hülkenberg brings with him the experience of more than 200 Grands Prix, he joined Haas in 2023 as Mick Schumacher's successor and is now leaving the US racing team after two years to pursue a new adventure with Audi.
