He wants to oust incumbent Georg Willi of the Greens from the "throne" on Sunday. Johannes Anzengruber, ex-ÖVP member, former deputy mayor and once popular mountain hut landlord, is aiming for the office of mayor of Innsbruck. "Free from extremes", Anzengruber wants to "talk to everyone". The "Tiroler Krone" met with him for an interview ahead of the run-off election.

"Krone": How surprising is it for you that you made it into the run-off?
Johannes Anzengruber: Secretly, of course, you wish for this success. I never thought it would be so phenomenal. Of course we're having a blast. It's nice to be on a par with the Greens with eight seats.
