In Slovakia as against Germany
The leading players of the Austrian national team are demanding a serious performance in the first test match of the year against Slovakia. "We want to start the EURO year in the same way as we finished last year," emphasized Bayern Munich international Konrad Laimer ahead of the clash in Bratislava. The ÖFB team have won three games to nil in a row recently, culminating in a 2-0 win at home to Germany in the fall.
"The way we approached the game against Germany is what we expect against Slovakia," explained Laimer. "We have to go into the game with the same minimum. That's our aspiration." Three more tests are still to come before the start of the European Championship on June 17 against France - next Tuesday in Vienna against Turkey, on June 4 against Serbia, also at the Ernst Happel Stadium, and the final rehearsal for the European Championship on June 8 in St. Gallen against Switzerland.
