ÖVP versus KPÖ Plus
Hardship and poverty become a matter of political faith
Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus) goes into direct confrontation with Salzburg's Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) in the Salzburg state parliament.
When asked about the KPÖ's election success last week, Governor Wilfried Haslauer said that there was no housing shortage or child poverty in Salzburg. Communist Kay-Michael Dankl does not want to accept this. Families at risk of poverty often have to live in cramped conditions. "In the city of Salzburg, an above-average number of people are affected by cramped living conditions. The more housing costs rise, the more Salzburg residents have to save on space. But everyone needs space to live. Children are always the first to be affected," says the mayoral candidate for the city of Salzburg.
Current statistics show that the federal state of Salzburg has the highest rents in a comparison of federal states - 11.3 euros per square meter on average. At today's committee meeting in the state parliament, the KPÖ is submitting an urgent motion on the subject. This is primarily aimed at new buildings. Among other things, more large apartments should be considered.
