Countdown to the election
How parties want to regain trust
All 13 lists and their top candidates in Innsbruck are pursuing ambitious election goals. But how do they intend to achieve them? And what could a new government in Innsbruck look like? Party strategists already have clear ideas on this.
To become the strongest force or to make it into the municipal council: When asked about the election objective, these are the answers most frequently given by the media in Innsbruck at the moment. The fact is: the big parties are getting bigger, the small ones are disappearing. The introduction of a four-percent hurdle and a ban on coupling is "to blame" for this.
Warning of Italian conditions
The aim is obvious: fewer parties in the local council should make it easier to form a stable government. Nothing puts voters off more than "Italian conditions", such as those that have recently occurred in Innsbruck as a result of the "free play of forces" proclaimed by Mayor Georg Willi. Knowing that they have to win back a lot of lost trust from voters, the candidates are sparing no expense or effort.
