Less waste, more money: rethinking tampons & co
On average, women spend 3000 euros on their periods in their lifetime. In addition to the high costs, feminine hygiene products also generate a lot of waste. For more and more women, this is now the reason to switch from tampons, pads and the like to more sustainable cups, pads or period underwear.
On average, a woman has her period 450 times in her lifetime and spends a total of 3,000 euros on it. In Austria, the VAT on feminine hygiene products was reduced from 20 to ten percent in December 2020, and there are more and more public institutions, schools and universities that provide tampons and pads free of charge, but for financially weaker sections of the population, the monthly period is a financial burden. The idea of sustainability is also currently leading to a rethink of feminine hygiene.
