Working for 40 years, retiring at 65 and barely being able to live on your income - many Austrians only realize what saving means when they retire. Insurance companies offer the opportunity to buy back months of schooling or study at an early stage. Krone+ took a look at who benefits from this.

The standard retirement age for men is 65. From January 1, 2024, the retirement age for women will be raised from 60 by six months per year until 2033 to 65. In other words, anyone born after July 1, 1968 must work until the age of 65.
