Skills shortage despite rising apprentice numbers

More and more young people are opting for an apprenticeship in Styria. Nevertheless, there are professions that are in sharp decline, even though their services are in high demand. However, the number of carpenters remains constant. Why is that? You can read the answers here.

The good news first: the number of apprentices in Styria has risen again compared to the previous year. Despite the economic crisis, 4787 young Styrians opted for an apprenticeship in 2023 and 15,318 were in a permanent employment relationship. Overall, this represents a modest but nevertheless significant increase of 0.3% compared to 2022.
