More expensive beer prices are brewing

The brewing industry is struggling with increased costs for raw materials, very high wage settlements and lower demand. Brewers are trying to "accommodate" some of this on the market. The "Krone" asked around to find out who is adjusting their prices and who is not.

Hops and malt are not yet lost, but they are significantly more expensive. "We are now paying 22 percent more for our malt compared to last year and we need a third more hops due to the lower bitterness of the last harvest," explains brewery chairman and Zwettler boss Karl Schwarz.
