A Disappointing Start for Kühbauer
Champions League draw featuring LASK starts at 6 p.m.
LASK has drawn a favorable bracket in the Champions League. Austria’s double champion will face Real Madrid and Liverpool in the group stage of the “Champions League.” Other opponents in the Linz team’s Champions League debut under coach Dietmar Kühbauer include FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Fenerbahçe, Bodø/Glimt, Slovan Bratislava, and AEK Athens. This was the result of Thursday’s draw in Monaco.
Kronen Zeitung als bevorzugte Google-Quelle hinzufügen From Pot 1, LASK was drawn against the Spanish record champions, coached by Jose Mourinho; the Linz team will play at the Bernabéu in Madrid. They will also host a rematch against Liverpool at home. Three years ago, they suffered two losses (1-3, 0-4) against the “Reds” in the Europa League group stage. The second pot held Portuguese opponents for Kühbauer’s squad: champions Porto (at home) and runners-up Sporting (away).
Home Game Against Fenerbahçe
There’s also a highlight home match against Fenerbahçe; the top Turkish club eliminated runner-up Sturm in the third Champions League qualifying round with an aggregate score of 3:0. There are slightly better chances of picking up points on the road in Norway against Bodø/Glimt and in Greece against AEK Athens; there’s also a home match against the Slovakian serial champions, Slovan Bratislava.
