LIVE: Draw! Salzburg Finds Out Its Qualifying Opponent
Red Bull Salzburg will face the winner of the match between HNK Hajduk Split (Croatia) and Pafos FC (Cyprus) in the third round of Europa League qualifying. The draw also has a potential opponent lined up for Sturm Graz should they fail to advance past Heart of Midlothian (Scotland) in the Champions League qualifiers.

The winner of Hammarby IF (SWE) vs. RSC Anderlecht (BEL), the winner of Tromsø IL (NOR) vs. FC Hradec Králové (CZE), or Jagiellonia Białystok (POL) were all potential opponents. In the end, Salzburg was drawn against the winner of the match between HNK Hajduk Split (CRO) and Pafos FC (CYP). The first leg will be an away game.
“We’ll be watching both matches very closely!”
“We have an exciting qualifying round ahead of us because both potential opponents certainly have a lot of quality. That’s why we’ll be taking a very close look at the two matches between Pafos and Hajduk, analyzing them, and then drawing our conclusions for the upcoming match,” explained Salzburg’s new coach, Danny Röhl. If they succeed, the Red Bulls will secure a spot in the group stage of a European competition; if they fail, they’ll have another chance in the Conference League playoffs.
There’s also an interesting aspect of this draw for Sturm Graz. If the Styrians are eliminated by Heart of Midlothian (Scotland) in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, they would enter the third qualifying round of the Europa League. There, the winner of the match between St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Benfica (Portugal) would await them.
