Aicher wins thanks to a dream run, ÖSV trails behind

Emma Aicher secured victory in the Super-G in Soldeu with a powerful run. The German left New Zealand's Alice Robinson (+0.88 seconds) and Switzerland's Corinne Suter (+0.98 seconds) trailing behind her. The Austrian women were left trailing behind, with Cornelia Hütter finishing tenth.

Emma Aicher won the first of two World Cup Super-G races in Soldeu and caught up in the overall standings. On Saturday, the German finished ahead of New Zealand's Alice Robinson (+0.88) and Swiss downhill winner Corinne Suter (+0.98). Cornelia Hütter was the best Austrian in tenth place (+1.84), while six ÖSV athletes failed to finish after the same jump. Ricarda Haaser suffered a fracture of the left tibial plateau in her fall and will be flown back to Austria.

Haaser, who was transported away on a rescue sled, had only returned to the World Cup in December 2025 at Semmering after suffering a cruciate ligament and medial meniscus tear in her right knee during the Super-G at the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in February. Nina Ortlieb, who finished second in Friday's downhill, was uninjured in a fall. Ariane Rädler ("I went in with an attack") and Julia Scheib, Emily Schöpf, and Lena Wechner also made mistakes on the same jump after strong runs, but did not fall and did not make it into the rankings.

Austrians wait for their first podium place in the super-G
Hütter was "completely in the garage" at one point. She knew in her head how she had to make the turns, but she didn't manage to do it, said the Olympic bronze medalist from Styria. "Recover well, gather all your strength again and give it your all again tomorrow," said Hütter. Points were also scored by Mirjam Puchner (14th), Nadine Fest (19th), and Lisa Grill (30th). The Austrian women are still waiting for their first podium finish this winter in this discipline. Olympic champion Federica Brignone (ITA) finished 15th after a flawed run.

"That wasn't good, I didn't believe I could do it. It's difficult when you're a bit injured. I'm not jumping over my shadow at the moment," said Puchner, who is still suffering from the after-effects of a fall in training. "I'll have another chance tomorrow, I just have to get over it, there's no point in dwelling on it." Looking at the results list, she said: "The others are showing us the way at the moment."

Chance for revenge on Sunday
"We have to fight back tomorrow," said Rädler. "I was right on the edge, then I was catapulted out. Nothing should have happened, but it just annoys me," said Ortlieb. "Every fall costs you confidence, and I've had enough of that. This kind of nonsense doesn't happen to me in training." But she has to be glad that nothing happened. "I want to show what I can do in the Super-G too. I'll make sure I'm ready tomorrow and take advantage of the next opportunity."

In the discipline World Cup, Sofia Goggia (ITA), who finished sixth today, still has a 20-point lead over Robinson and 96 over Aicher. For Aicher, it was her fifth World Cup victory, her second in super-G this winter. "I really enjoyed myself today. It's nice to see that the hard work is paying off," said the 22-year-old. Robinson said she was very happy with how she handled the flat sections. "Today I regained my confidence," said the 24-year-old, who crashed in the super-G in Tarvisio in mid-January.
