Return to former club! ÖFB hero’s transfer finalized

Now the deal is done! ÖFB footballer Michael Gregoritsch is moving from Bröndby IF to FC Augsburg on loan. He wants to play regularly on the pitch again at his former club and cause a sensation. He was introduced with a funny video on Instagram. The transfer is an important step for the attacking player, also with regard to the upcoming World Cup! 

"Nice to have you back, Gregerl!", FC Augsburg comments under the introductory video. In it, Gregoritsch explains in a white shirt in front of a buzzer that he is returning to his former club.

After the ÖFB legionnaire only moved from SC Freiburg to Bröndby in Copenhagen in the summer, the Danish chapter is now probably over again. For the time being, "Gregerl" is returning to the German Bundesliga on loan. However, Augsburg has secured a purchase option. 

Should keep Augsburg in the league
In sporting terms, things have been mixed for Gregoritsch in Denmark since his transfer. He scored three goals in 14 competitive matches in the fall, but the striker was mostly only used as a wild card. In Augsburg, he is expected to regain his old form and help keep the club in the league.

"When the opportunity to move to FCA arose, I was immediately hooked. The contact with Augsburg has never been broken and I was keen to accept this challenge. I'm looking forward to meeting up with old friends again and have fond memories of my time under Manuel Baum. We now want to build on that and get out of the bottom half of the table quickly," explained the ÖFB hero himself. The 31-year-old attacker was already under contract in Augsburg from 2017 to 2022.

The veteran has 72 caps and 23 goals for the ÖFB team. Gregoritsch became a hero with his equalizer in the qualifier against Bosnia in November. His goal secured Austria's long-awaited World Cup ticket.
