Restart of KTM production costs €150 million

The production employees have been at home since mid-December and are currently receiving wages for a 30-hour week, although they are not working - KTM has used this measure in recent months to try and reduce the high stock levels. Production in Mattighofen is now set to start up again on March 17. But this requires money - specifically 150 million euros.

Motorcycles were produced in Mattighofen for the last time on December 13, and assembly in the Innviertel region is now set to resume on March 17 - to make this plan a reality, it not only needs the approval of creditors for the restructuring plan, but also fresh capital.

150 million euros are needed to resume production, KTM AG revealed on Tuesday afternoon. Liquidity has not yet been established, "the owners of KTM AG are working on this," it said. There is talk of "advanced talks".

Of course, it is clear that production can only start if the green light is given for the restructuring plan on Tuesday, February 25. Restructuring administrator Peter Vogl explains that bankruptcy will occur if the restructuring plan is rejected: "With regard to the break-up quota, the restructuring plan quota of 30 percent offered by KTM AG is more than appropriate."
