Two attempted robberies

Perpetrator threatened victim (22) with a knife in Innsbruck

Robbers have caused terror twice in Innsbruck in the past few days. On Friday, a stranger threatened a 22-year-old with a knife, but then fled. Two days later, an offender snatched a handbag from the hand of a local woman (25). The police are looking for witnesses.

The wild robbery attempt took place last Friday at around 6.25 pm in the area of Liebeneggstraße/Karmelitergasse in Innsbruck. There, a previously unknown perpetrator threatened a 22-year-old man with a knife and demanded that he hand over his valuables. When an uninvolved person approached the two men, he fled.

Police are looking for witnesses
The police are now looking for a man between 20 and 25 years old and about 180 to 185 centimeters tall. He had a slim build, was wearing light-colored or gray-white outerwear with a hood and had several scars on his face. The unknown man was armed with a knife with a black handle.

The next robbery attempt followed just two days later. This time, an unknown man snatched a handbag from a 25-year-old local woman in the area of Leopoldstraße/Pechestraße in Innsbruck at around 7.20 pm. The perpetrator then fled the scene. The victim was not injured, but several hundred euros worth of damage was caused.

Exact description of the perpetrator
The fleeing man is about 170 to 175 centimeters tall and between 25 and 30 years old. He had black hair and a black, bushy full beard, with the moustache trimmed. He was wearing a black "Northface" jacket, striking light blue jogging pants and an "Adidas" hooded sweatshirt (the lettering is on the chest).

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Innsbruck City Police Command is asking witnesses to the two incidents to call 059133/75-3333.
