Rogan: “Our house was between four fires”
Austria's former swimming star Markus Rogan experienced the forest fires in Los Angeles at close quarters. His family's house was located right between four sources of fire: "It was terrible to see the flames on all sides." Karl Schmidinger, manager of Austria's national motocross team, also experienced hours of fear in the Californian metropolis.
The devastating forest fires in Los Angeles, which are still not under control, are also threatening sports facilities for the 2028 Olympic Games. The Riviera Country Club, where golf is to be played, is located in an evacuation zone. According to media reports, the University of California - where the Olympic Village will be located on the university campus - is also in danger.
