Union Berlin part ways with coach Bo Svensson

1. FC Union Berlin has dismissed coach Bo Svensson. The decision on the Dane's successor will be made in the coming days, the German Bundesliga club announced on Friday. 

Two Austrians, Christopher Trimmel and Leopold Querfeld, are also employed by Union. The club recently went on a run of nine games without a win in all competitions, and after the winter break they face basement rivals Heidenheim and Augsburg.

The "Eisern" had been courting the ex-Liefering coach for a long time until he was finally signed before the start of the season as an absolute dream candidate. At the time, Svensson took over an unsettled team that lacked confidence and collective unity after the last-minute relegation, and was initially successful. But since a win against promoted Kiel on October 20, not much has come together.

The cup debacle at third-division side Arminia Bielefeld was followed by defeats against Wolfsburg and Leverkusen. In Stuttgart, the team squandered a 2-0 lead, and against bottom club Bochum, they only managed a 1-1 draw despite being outnumbered for around 80 minutes. Three other team managers had to say goodbye along with Svensson.
