Victims’ families are entitled to inheritance from perpetrators

In the case of serious crimes such as the double murder in the Mühlviertel region, the bereaved are entitled to bereavement compensation. Even if the perpetrator - like Roland Drexler - is already dead and there is no trial. The "Krone" asked how high the claims are and whether heirs of perpetrators have to worry about having to pay.

"Relatives have filed a claim for grief compensation" - the relatives of Roland Drexler (56) from Altenfelden in Upper Austria fear that they will now be asked to pay. Because the alleged double murderer is dead, and there will be no criminal trial in which the victims' families can file a private party claim for grief or psychological or health consequences.
