After “idiot comment”: FIA decision is final

Max Verstappen gets away unpunished despite his outburst in Abu Dhabi. Although the world champion got upset about his ten-second penalty with the words "stupid idiots", the Red Bull driver does not have to fear any repercussions, as the FIA has now announced. 

What happened? Verstappen had tried to sneak past McLaren driver Oscar Piastri in the first corner of the race, but did not have enough space, causing both cars to skid. 

"Stupid idiots"
A maneuver that was punished with a ten-second penalty for Verstappen. Despite the strict ban on swearing, the Dutchman grumbled on the radio: "Couldn't we have asked for 20 seconds? Stupid idiots ..." Despite the clear violation of the verbal abuse rules, race control refrained from imposing a further penalty on Verstappen - after all, the 27-year-old already has social work to do. 

Before Verstappen is allowed to receive his world championship trophy at the FIA gala in Rwanda on Friday, he must perform "motorsport community service" after using the F-word at an FIA press conference in Singapore. After all, Verstappen can swear as much as he likes until the new season starts in March 2025 - at least according to the FIA ...
