Tesla driver causes boy to fall and flees

How reckless can you be? In Leonding (Upper Austria), a car driver caused a moped rider (15) to crash when he tried to overtake him. The driver didn't even stop, just drove on. The police are now looking for the driver of a blue Tesla Y.

A 15-year-old from the Linz-Land district was driving his moped on November 29, 2024 at around 6:05 p.m. in the municipal area of Leonding on the Ruflinger Straße L1388 coming from Grünburgstraße in the direction of Hitzing. Suddenly, the teenager was overtaken on a bend by a previously unknown car driver.

Witnesses observed everything
Due to oncoming traffic, the driver of the car had to quickly turn right again and hit the moped rider. This caused the moped rider to fall and the car driver simply drove on. Several witnesses were able to observe the accident, but were unable to provide any further details.

Side mirror gave away the make
As a result of the collision, the cover of the car's right-hand side mirror was broken off. This enabled the police officers to determine that the car involved in the accident was a Tesla Model Y in the color Deep Blue Metallic. The 15-year-old was injured to an indeterminate degree and was taken to the accident hospital in Linz after initial treatment.
