EU bans Apple from geo-blocking content

The European Union is taking action against Apple for restricting content for users in certain regions. The US company must stop so-called geo-blocking in its App Store, Apple Arcade, Music, iTunes Store, Books and Podcasts services, the authority in Brussels announced on Tuesday.

"No company - large or small - may discriminate against customers on the basis of their nationality, place of residence or place of business," the EU Commission stated.

Apple now has one month to submit proposals for remedying this abuse. If the company does not comply appropriately, the national regulators could impose penalties.
