Car crashes into train: serious accident in Scharnitz

Serious traffic accident on Friday afternoon at an unrestricted level crossing in Scharnitz in Tyrol! A car was hit by a train and dragged along. The railroad line had to be interrupted. Two people were injured.

Two adults were injured in a collision between a train and a car at an unrestricted level crossing in Scharnitz (Innsbruck-Land district). The two children, aged six months and three years, who were traveling with the train were uninjured. The train line between Seefeld and Scharnitz was temporarily closed, but was open again in the evening according to ÖBB.

Parents taken to hospital in Bavaria
The accident occurred at around 1.30 p.m. for reasons that have not yet been clarified; the carriage and the German family were dragged along for around 150 meters. The father of the family was slightly injured and his wife suffered moderate injuries. The family was taken to the hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Bavaria).

Internal emergency on the train
At the same time, the emergency services were also needed on the train, where a woman had to be treated for an internal emergency. She was subsequently flown to hospital.
