Too helpful: First the truck burned, then the kitchen

Her helpfulness cost a local resident dearly during a truck fire in Laakirchen: She wanted to help and ran out of her restaurant, leaving a pan of hot fat in her kitchen unattended. The landlady was able to extinguish the fire herself, but suffered slight smoke inhalation.

A 23-year-old Polish citizen was driving a truck on the A1 Westautobahn in the direction of Regau on Thursday. He drove off at the Lindach exit and heard a loud bang twice. When he saw smoke coming out of his hood, he stopped his vehicle and called the emergency services. When the emergency services arrived, the vehicle was already fully engulfed in flames and completely burnt out.

Forgotten on pan with fat
The owner (64) of an adjacent restaurant saw that the truck was on fire, wanted to help and ran out. In doing so, she forgot a pan of fat on the stove. When the fire department arrived, she noticed that smoke was coming from her business. She extinguished the fire herself with a fire blanket and was then treated by the emergency services for suspected smoke inhalation.
