The way to school becomes a danger to children’s lives

Hundreds of trucks speed through Passering, a small village in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia, every day. Schoolchildren have to cope with three danger zones on a stretch of 400 meters. There is no safe crossing. 

"It's madness to let the children cross the road here on their own!" said concerned parents at the Krone local inspection. There are major dangers lurking along around 400 meters of the Krappfelder Landesstraße (L83), which runs through the village of Passering: Bends and blind spots as well as far too much traffic, especially heavy traffic.
