Major alarm for the fire departments in Markt Neuhodis

Sirens on Saturday in Markt Neuhodis (Brugenland): A house was on fire. The father barely survived, the son died ...

Early in the morning on Saturday, the sirens were wailing in Markt Neuhodis. A roof truss was on fire in the main street. The fire department was deployed with more than 80 helpers. The father in the house was rescued, but it was too late to help his son.

Newspaper deliverer discovered the fire
The fire was discovered by a newspaper deliverer at around 4.50 in the morning. The witness raised the alarm. A few minutes later, the fire departments from Rechnitz, Markt Neuhodis, Dürnbach, Althodis and Pinkafeld arrived with 12 emergency vehicles and drone support from the air.

The owner of the house was rescued by the helpers and brought to safety. After first aid, the crew of the C3 flew him to hospital in Graz. His son was also brought outside by firefighters. Despite all attempts to resuscitate the fire victim, there was no rescue for the man. Shortly after 6 a.m., the helpers lost the fight for his life.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Fire investigators will be on site this morning looking for clues. The fire could have started due to negligence.
