Franco Colapinto will replace broken driver Logan Sargeant at the Williams Formula 1 team, leaving Mick Schumacher empty-handed. A decision that Ralf Schumacher cannot understand at all.

"You can perhaps respect this decision because Colapinto is a driver from Williams' junior development program," Ralf Schumacher told DPA. "But from a performance point of view, I think it is absurd and doesn't make sense." The risk for the racing team and the driver is "much, much higher than if they had put in someone with experience like Mick."

"Formula 1 is not forgiving"
Nevertheless: "You have to be fair enough to admit that it simply took Mick too long in his second season at Haas to find his feet and get to grips with his team-mate," says Schumacher. Postscript: "Formula 1 is not forgiving."

Colapinto debut in Monza
So the choice fell on Colapinto, who last drove in Formula 2 and will have the number 43 on his car. He will make his debut this weekend in Monza at the Italian Grand Prix. 

Sargeant scored just one point in his almost two years at Williams. However, he would have had to leave Williams at the end of the season anyway to make way for Carlos Sainz, who is coming from Ferrari.
