Biker (73) seriously injured in an accident on the A12

A serious accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the Inntal highway near Schönwies (Landeck district). A 73-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries.

At around 12.50 p.m., the 73-year-old local man was driving his motorcycle westbound on the A12 when he veered off the road on the right in the Schönwies municipal area for as yet unexplained reasons. The biker then touched a concrete guard rail, crashed and skidded 65 meters along the asphalt before coming to a halt. His motorcycle skidded another 30 meters. 

Taken to hospital
The 73-year-old sustained a serious leg injury and abrasions to his hands in the accident. After first aid at the scene of the accident, the emergency services took him to hospital in Zams. 

Only one lane of the A12 was passable in the area of the accident site for the duration of the clean-up work.
