Dead and missing in shipwreck in the Atlantic

At least nine sailors have died in a shipwreck near the Falkland Islands. Four other crew members of the fishing vessel are still missing. "Argos Georgia" took on water and sank on Monday.

The cause has not yet been clarified. The accident occurred more than 300 kilometers east of Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands. The Falkland Islands are a British overseas territory off the Atlantic coast of Argentina.

The 27 crew members made it onto life rafts, but had to endure rough conditions at sea while a search was conducted for them. At least nine of them lost their lives, 14 have since been rescued. Four more sailors are still missing.

International crew
The crew is international. Two Spaniards are among the dead and two missing, while other sailors come from Russia, Indonesia, Peru and Uruguay. The ship "Argos Georgia" sails under the flag of the British overseas territory of St. Helena and belongs to the Norwegian fishing company Ervik Havifske.
