Dead cattle: Wolf released for shooting again

Two dead cattle, two more injured, one missing: a wolf is said to have been up to mischief in Kirchberg in Tirol (Kitzbühel district). The black-red Tyrolean state government has therefore issued a new shooting order.

Two dead cattle had already been found in an alpine pasture area in Kirchberg last Friday. "Two more cattle were injured and one cattle is currently missing. Following an assessment by the local official veterinarian, it is suspected that a wolf was involved," said the province of Tyrol in a press release on Tuesday.

Shooting order valid for 8 weeks
In accordance with the legal requirements, the Tyrolean provincial government immediately issued a shooting order for a wolf. This came into force with the announcement on Monday. It applies for a period of eight weeks within a radius of ten kilometers from the location of the incident. The responsible hunters have already been informed.

Further regulations still in force
A dead (fallen) cow had already been found in the municipality of Kirchdorf at the beginning of July, whereupon a corresponding shooting order for a wolf was issued. This will remain in place until the end of August.

At the beginning of last week, three dead cattle were also found in the municipality of Aurach near Kitzbühel. In this case, a culling order for a wolf is in place until September 11.
