The sunshine and high temperatures attract us Austrians to the south every year. However, the fact that the water temperatures in the Mediterranean and the Adriatic are currently around 30 degrees is too much for many vacationers. Cooling off looks different. But it's not just water lovers who are complaining about the heat. The environment also suffers enormously.

In mid-July, the Mediterranean normally warms up to 26 or 27 degrees, depending on the location. But this year everything seems to be different. Due to the long heatwave in large parts of southern Europe, the sea has also warmed up unusually.
