Mexico part ways with team manager ahead of home World Cup 2026

Two years before the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, the Mexican Football Federation and team manager Jaime Lozano are parting ways. 

Lozano has turned down the offer to be placed under a more experienced coach until the home World Cup and take over again later, the association announced. A successor is to be appointed in the first week of August.

The 45-year-old Lozano was initially appointed national coach on an interim basis in June last year. His departure now follows Mexico's early elimination from the Copa America. Mexico was eliminated in the group stage of the continental tournament, which ended on Sunday with Argentina winning the title.
