Mother saw everything

Biker (38) had to brake and overturned

Tragic end to a motorcycle tour for a family from St. Georgen im Attergau (Upper Austria). Together with his mother and stepfather (55), they were riding towards Neukirchen am Walde. They wanted to overtake two cars there, but had to stop. The 38-year-old braked too hard and crashed heavily.

The 38-year-old and his 55-year-old stepfather went for a motorcycle ride together on Saturday. The 55-year-old's wife was sitting on the pillion. Shortly after the Neukirchen am Walde bypass, the two motorcyclists caught up with two cars. As they started to overtake, they noticed that the car in front was indicating left to turn into the Oberaubach goods road.

Overtaking maneuver aborted
Both motorcyclists then stopped overtaking. However, the 38-year-old braked too abruptly and crashed headfirst in the Hungberg district of Neukirchen am Walde. He was seriously injured and, after receiving emergency medical treatment, was flown by rescue helicopter to the hospital in Wels.
