Goodbye parking chaos: new parking spaces for e-scooters

New e-scooter regulations with no-parking zones, marked parking areas and speed limits are now set to bring more order to Klagenfurt's city center.

With the new regulation, the chaos with e-scooters in Klagenfurt's city center should finally be history from tomorrow, Monday.

To this end, a total of 24 parking spaces have been marked out within the ring road, meaning that parking electric scooters outside the ring road is finally prohibited. However, the new regulation also applies in pedestrian, short-term parking and meeting zones. "The new e-scooter regulation creates stricter rules for rental companies and their customers," says FP City Councillor for Transport Sandra Wassermann, who has declared war on the e-scooter chaos.

But it's not just parking that will be monitored more closely from tomorrow. In the pedestrian zones, e-scooters will only be allowed to travel at 8 km/h. "A maximum speed of 20 km/h applies in the rest of the city," says Wassermann, who also had the number of scooters restricted in the ordinance. In future, only a maximum of 200 scooters per provider may be distributed in the provincial capital, of which at least 30 must be parked in the Viktring district.
