Lower Austria: Car overturned, two people injured

A 71-year-old car driver overturned his car in Miesenbach (Wiener Neustadt district) on Saturday evening. He and his wife were injured.

The man from Lower Austria is believed to have left the road on a left-hand bend. After the rollover, the car landed on its tires and rolled backwards down an adjacent embankment, the police reported. 

Trapped in the car
The 71-year-old was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department. He was flown to Vienna General Hospital by rescue helicopter. The driver's 76-year-old wife was able to free herself from the car with minor injuries.
