Roglic misses victory and lead at Dauphiné!

Primoz Roglic from the German team Bora-hansgrohe just missed out on the stage win and the overall lead at the Critérium du Dauphiné! 

The Slovenian was only beaten by the Dane Magnus Cort in the sprint of a large group on the Col de la Loge on Monday. The US-American Matteo Jorgensen came third on the 142-kilometer second stage. Roglic is also second in the overall standings, four seconds behind Cort.

Roglic's helpers Alexander Wlassow and Jai Hindley laid the foundation for this, setting the pace in the peloton on the final climb, whereby the French breakaway rider Bruno Aemirail was caught 200 meters before the finish. The best of the four Austrians was Gregor Mühlberger, who finished 16th on the stage. In the overall standings, the Movistar rider is 45th, ten seconds behind leader Cort.

The eight-day stage race, most of which takes place in the Alps, is the classic dress rehearsal for the Tour de France. The highlight of the cycling year begins on June 29 in Florence. Roglic is considered the favorite for overall victory at the Dauphiné. His rivals include the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, who was also part of the first group on Monday.
