Parliamentary director Weiß suspended from office

A bang in the Carinthian state parliament: The long-standing director Robert Weiß has been suspended from duty. The reason for this is said to be discrepancies in the high-ranking civil servant's working time records. 

As early as March of this year, it became known that Robert Weiß, the director of the provincial parliament, was under investigation (we reported). An anonymous tip-off set the ball rolling at the time. The long-standing civil servant was alleged to have cheated when recording his working hours.

As a result, the state's disciplinary commission suspended Weiß from his duties on Friday.

Office operations must be maintained
"I sent a letter to the two personnel officers, Governor Peter Kaiser and his deputy Martin Gruber, asking them to make a legally qualified person available so that the office can continue to operate," said Reinhart Rohr (SPÖ), President of the provincial parliament, to the "Krone" newspaper.

Rohr also points out that this decision was made entirely by the state's personnel department. "Professionally, I have always worked well with Weiß, for whom the presumption of innocence applies."
