Attempted bank robbery in broad daylight in Vienna

A stranger tried to rob a bank in Vienna's Floridsdorf district on Friday morning. However, employees rebuffed the man, whereupon he fled. The manhunt is underway.

At around 10 a.m., the man, who was about six feet tall, entered the bank branch in Floridsdorf. With the words "Göd her, otherwise it'll rattle" he demanded cash.

However, the employees were quite unimpressed and simply refused to hand over cash - whereupon he left the branch again and fled in the direction of Floridsdorf station. A large police operation ensued, which is why train services at Floridsdorf station had to be temporarily interrupted.

Initially, the media reported that a hostage situation had occurred at the bank. However, the police denied this within a few minutes.

Description of the perpetrator
On Friday morning, the wanted man was wearing a blue hooded jacket, gray jogging pants and white sports shoes. He was wearing a FFP3 mask.

The manhunt is in full swing.
