Sewage flowed into England’s largest lake for hours

Huge quantities of untreated sewage have been flowing into England's largest and most famous lake, Lake Windermere, for hours. According to a BBC report on Wednesday, the eco-disaster, which caused massive pollution of the lake, had already occurred in February due to a pump failure.

The BBC referred to documents from United Utilities, which manages the sewage network in the north-west of England. According to the documents, a fault caused the main pumps, which are supposed to clean the water entering the lake, to fail.

As a result, waste water was pumped into the famous lake for ten hours without interruption.
