Disadvantage begins at birth

On the occasion of the day of protest for equality on May 5, Lebenshilfe shows where there is still (or again) a huge gap in the inclusion of children and young people with disabilities. An expert gives parents tips on how to deal with exclusion.

"Disadvantage for children with disabilities begins at birth," explains Judith Rafelsberger, who is responsible for the Child & Family department at Lebenshilfe Tirol. Children and young people with disabilities should actually be at the heart of society, but we are still a long way from that. She lists a whole catalog of injustices.
