Third strongest year
Storms also hit Carinthian insurance companies
Uniqa insurance records strong increases due to hail and storms. Carinthians attach more and more importance to health.
It wasn't just the Carinthian emergency services that were challenged by numerous storms last year. Carinthia's leading insurance company, Uniqa, also had to dig deep into its pockets. "Overall, 2023 was the third most severe weather year in the past 20 years," summarizes Peter Humer, CEO of the insurance group, which paid out a total of 153 million euros in Austria last year due to hail, storms and flooding.
Strong growth, especially in the accident sector
And yet the insurance company was able to increase its premium volume in Carinthia considerably. "In 2022, it amounted to around 327.7 million euros. In 2023, we were at 346.7 million euros," says Humer. And this strong growth was achieved in property and casualty insurance. This also enabled the Group to further expand its market share in Carinthia.
But the Carinthians did not only opt for Uniqa in property and casualty insurance. The Group was also able to make considerable gains in the area of private health insurance. "Your own health is your most valuable asset - more and more people are realizing how important it is to actively maintain it," says Humer.
