Runaway horses operated on in London
On Wednesday morning, several horses galloped through the center of London. They had broken loose during a training exercise after being frightened by the noise of construction sites. It has now been announced that two of the animals had to be operated on.
Vida and Quaker, as they are both called, are in a serious condition. One has been taken to an equine hospital, the British military announced on Thursday on Platform X. "All other horses will continue to be closely monitored." The three soldiers involved in the incident had suffered no lasting damage and are expected to return to duty.
As reported , several horses were galloping through central London on Wednesday morning. One of the animals collided with a cab and four riders were thrown off. The horses had been spooked by construction site noise during an exercise.
Incidents extremely rare
Pictures showed a dark horse and a white horse with saddles and bridles, but without riders, running through a street in London's West End. Secretary of State for Defense James Cartlidge said such incidents were extremely rare. The army is out and about with horses in central London every day, with an average of 150 animals a day.
