Anger explodes at PK
Hamilton rages: “They’re all just talking sh***”
Lewis Hamilton's nerves are clearly on edge after the qualifying debacle. When the seven-time world champion was asked about his switch from Mercedes to Ferrari by journalists during a media round before the Grand Prix in China on Sunday, the Briton could no longer control himself.
"I don't feel like I need any justification for my decision. I know what's right for me and that hasn't changed since my decision," said Hamilton after 18th place in qualifying. "There hasn't been a moment when I've questioned it and I'm not going to be swayed by other people's comments."
But questions from journalists follow. After all, the euphoria surrounding the Hamilton deal in Italy has long since faded. Ferrari is now even accused of replacing Carlos Sainz with an inferior driver. Hamilton explodes! "There are people who continue to talk shit and that will continue for the rest of the year, I just have to do what I do. Only I know what's right for me - and it's going to be a great time for me."
Only 18th place
Hamilton finished second in the sprint race. In qualifying, however, the record-breaking world champion made a braking error on his fast lap and will therefore only start the race on Sunday from 18th on the grid. After four races, the record-breaking champion is in ninth place in the drivers' standings, with just 10 points.
