How much hydropower is still available in Styria

New power plants in Stübing, Leoben-Ost and on the Upper Enns in Styria: conservationists in many places are rebelling against the plans of energy companies. Climate change is also threatening hydropower generation. Is it an obsolete model? 

Where fish are threatened, Franz Keppel is not far away. The "Huchenfranz" has been campaigning for decades against hydropower plants that threaten fish spawning grounds. And so it is again in Leoben-Ost. A power plant is to be built in the Judendorf district to supply 10,000 households with electricity. The environmental impact assessment is currently underway.
