St. Pölten’s women: Championship title after winning the Cup

After winning the Cup for the first time, the SKN St. Pölten women's basketball team have also won their first championship title. The Lower Austrians beat UBI Graz 71:64 in front of their home crowd on Sunday after a tough battle, thus winning the best-of-five final series 3:0 ahead of time. The newcomers to the upper house had won the previous games by 58:41 (at home) and 73:70 (away).

Graz let a nine-plus lead slip from their grasp at the break. In the Cup final on March 17, St. Pölten had prevailed 76:65 against series champions Klosterneuburg Duchess. "We set ourselves high goals, I'm super proud of the girls, what they've invested in this success and that they ended the series 3:0 in front of our fans today. It's a crazy thing, I'm speechless and still don't believe it happened," said St. Pölten coach Lana Petrovic in the ORF interview.

Anna Kolyandrova and Nina Krisper were the best scorers for the winners with 16 points each. Krisper was able to shine in her comeback. "It's unbelievable, I'm overwhelmed. The feelings of happiness outweigh the pain. Now it's time to celebrate," said the 23-year-old. Camilla Neumann was outstanding in the Graz dress with 17 points.
