Meeting in Paris
Chancellor’s wife with Macron: “We have a lot of plans”
At the meeting between Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, tough global political issues were discussed. The meeting between the politicians' wives was much more light-hearted.
Katharina Nehammer met with Brigitte Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris, the official residence of the French President. The two obviously got on brilliantly, as photos posted by the chancellor's wife on Facebook on Saturday suggest. "I am very proud and thank you for the wonderful invitation," she wrote.
A conversation in private
In the "unique" palace, they had a one-to-one discussion about the role of women in society and the "great contribution" women make. Nehammer also made an announcement: "We also have many plans in the area of charity ...", she explained.
A picture showing the animal lover Nehammer exchanging caresses with a dog is puzzling. Because it is neither Macron's dog "Nemo" nor the Nehammers' family dog, "Fanny".
"It was an honor"
Like the politicians' wives, Chancellor Nehammer and President Macron also showed unity at their meeting on Thursday. The Chancellor's gift made it clear that these two also have a personal connection. After the working and one-on-one meeting, Nehammer, himself a passionate amateur boxer, presented his host with red boxing gloves - a meaningful gift. The short visit came to an end on Thursday. "It was an honor," summarized Katharina Nehammer.
