Negligent homicide, rape, illegal dog fighting! They were at the top as sports stars. Role models - who fell very low! Most recently, the Brazilian former team footballers Dani Alves and Robinho, both convicted of sexual offenses, made the headlines. The "Krone" looked for the most spectacular cases that put sportsmen behind bars. Some Austrians are among them. 

He won the Champions League three times, became Spanish champion six times and champion in France twice. Before right-back Dani Alves was sent to prison near Barcelona in January 2023 after he was accused of raping a young woman in the toilet of a nightclub on December 31, 2022. Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, lodged an appeal and applied for his release on bail. This was set at one million euros. As the 40-year-old's accounts in his home country are blocked due to unpaid maintenance payments, this is a lengthy process.
