Olympic hopeful Benjamin Wizani tears cruciate ligament

Trampolinist Benjamin Wizani, who has qualified for the Summer Olympics in Paris, has suffered a torn cruciate ligament during training. The injury will not be treated surgically; the sixth-placed athlete at the World Championships in November is undergoing conservative treatment.

With alternative healing methods and his well-trained muscles, and due to the type of knee strain involved in trampolining, the Lower Austrian should still be able to compete at the Games.

Three Austrian elite athletes will compete at the European Championships next week in Guimaraes, Portugal, but without a chance of a top place.
