Although he lost the semi-final of the Indian Wells Masters against Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday, he scored plenty of sympathy points with a gentlemanly gesture during a rain interruption. A fine gentleman, this Jannik Sinner.
Background: After the first drops fell from the sky in the first set, the match was interrupted and Alcaraz and Sinner made their way to their bench, where they were greeted by ball girls with umbrellas.
Instead of simply taking a seat, however, Sinner literally took the rain cover into his own hands and exchanged a few words with the visibly astonished young lady.
In sporting terms, however, the South Tyrolean had to admit defeat, with Alcaraz winning 1:6, 6:3 and 6:2 to reach the final, which the Spaniard also won (7:6 and 6:1 against Medvedev).
