Steiner: “Should have left Haas earlier!”
Cult team boss Günther Steiner was team boss at Haas for ten years. Now the South Tyrolean admits that he should have left the team earlier.
"The more time passes, the more I realize that I stayed at Haas for too long," he writes in his column for "f1.com". "As long as you're there, you deny it. You think you can do it, but you can't," says the 58-year-old.
"Didn't have the same weapons"
"When I was there, you could still fight for seventh, eighth or ninth place with what we had," explains Steiner. However, they "didn't have the same weapons as the other guys" to achieve podium places.
Return for "the right project"
If it is "the right project", Steiner can imagine a comeback in Formula 1. But: "I don't want to finish seventh again. I've put that behind me. I want to fight at the top."
