Comments about Verstappen drive Albon up the wall
Williams driver Alex Albon does not want to accept the fact that fans claim that Formula 1 is boring due to Max Verstappen's dominance. In the podcast "Beyond The Grid", the Thai-Brit found clear words.
"I think some of these comments are a real shame. Because this Formula 1 really isn't boring," the 27-year-old wants to make clear. "Let's take a look at the first qualifying segment in Bahrain. We had the entire field of 20 cars within one second of each other. One second! Excuse me, but when has that ever happened?"
"Fans should appreciate that"
The power density of the cars and drivers is enormous, with the slightest mistake you can lose two places, Albon continued. "Of course, I also see how Max dominates his opponents. But the fans should appreciate that, ultimately this is the result of a lot of work, and then they should be happy about the fact that things are going haywire in the field behind them," said the former team-mate of the world champion, wishing that the multiple battles in the midfield would receive more recognition.
Verstappen took pole position in the first two races of the season and then went on to win the Grand Prix in dominant fashion. Both times, the second Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, finished second. The fans were probably not entirely wrong in their assessment ...
